This strong foundation positions us to confidently deliver on our Big 50 ambition, making this an exciting and attractive opportunity for prospective candidates who want to be part of a forward-thinking, unified council. Our Big 50 Vision looks ahead to 2050, with a clear and ambitious focus on creating:

  • A Proud Place – celebrating identity and community

  • A Proactive Place – driving innovation and inclusion

This vision is underpinned by commitments to:

About North Northamptonshire: a Thriving, Family-Friendly Community

North Northamptonshire is a growing and vibrant place to live, with a population of 359,500 and a remarkable 13.5% growth rate between 2011 and 2021 - more than double the national average. This growth reflects the area’s appeal as a clean, safe, and well-connected where families choose to settle and thrive. Significant investment in accessible housing and new developments is ensuring that, as our population grows, so too does the availability of high-quality, inclusive homes. These developments are designed with community wellbeing in mind, offering green spaces, modern infrastructure, and sustainable living.

With 23.8% of our population aged 19 and under, and a slight increase in children aged 0–4 between 2021 and 2023, North Northamptonshire is clearly a place where young families are flourishing. Encouragingly, only 14% of children live in relative low-income families, below the national average, highlighting our community’s resilience and commitment to supporting children’s life chances. Our population is predominantly White (90%), with a growing and vibrant 10% from minority ethnic backgrounds, enriching the area’s dynamic cultural identity.
